Adrian Johann Dan Bedoy (* 1979 in Bucharest) is a German photographer, journalist, entrepreneur and lecturer for visual arts.
Bedoy grew up in Bucharest, Romania. In 1987, the family moved to the father‘s home in Germany and settled in Essen. After his high school diploma, Bedoy in 1997 started his apprenticeship of photography with the renowned light and photo designer Walter Buchholz. After completing his education, he studied economic journalism.
He started his professional career with the RAG Group (today Evonik Industries). RAG/Evonik is a worldwide leading German producer of chemical ingredients and plastics. Here, Bedoy got to know and to value original handcrafted plexiglass which he today uses as vehicle to express his visual arts. In 2006, he took over as Director of Public Relations and Marketing at the Philharmonic Concert Hall of Essen, Europe‘s most modern concert hall and architectural masterpiece.
At the age of only 28, Bedoy took over a leading position in the field of integrated advertising with public relations at the advertising agency Jung von Matt. Since 2009, Bedoy is also a lecturer and teaches visual arts and modern forms of visual presentation. Bedoy has worked as freelance photographer and videographer since 1999. In 2008 he founded his own company, the idea agency Corporate Inspiration. Bedoy‘s agency works for international leading brands and corporations.
In addition to commissioned visual work, Bedoy travels the world to expand his performing series „#ThroughGermanEyes“. Until now he has featured more than 30 countries and cities, among which Berlin, Duesseldorf, Copenhagen, London, Tallin, Paris, New York City, Miami, Hong Kong, Ho-Chi-Minh, Bangkok, Shanghai, and now Kuala Lumpur.
“Architecture and monuments have always been a core element of professional photography because they timelessly represent cities and countries, cultures and communities. Every city and every monument has always had its individual special aspects and offers orientation and identification.”
But in today’s era of digitization and globalization boundaries diminish. Everything has already been seen or can be seen in a simple click.
“With my series #ThroughGermanEyes I decided to shoot an artistic series of modern architecture interpretations in today’s digital era of globalization with its mega cities and metropoles as a translation of the old way of portraying architecture, scenery and lines combined with a totally innovative way of showing landmarks. I mix perfect architecture with technology and perfection in photographic art production paying tribute to individualism and photography as art in a digital era that allows post-production and re-production.”
“Kuala Lumpur with it’s unique history and population is a melting-pot of cultures, views, perspective and diversity. It‘s a Mega City with its own character in a modern world and it‘s „being big“ is seen in every moment you walk, drive or fly over the city. In its only 150 years, since the city was born, the people of Malaysia formed a city like there‘s no other in the world. The structure and the mix of skyscrapers for living and business, for travel and everything else is phenomenal and much larger than everywhere else in the world.”
The 18 unique artworks wish to compete with the normal one-dimensional perspective of ordinary landscape photography and motivate spectators to rethink their views, discover something new and reflect on their potential prejudices and pre-knowledge.
„In my pieces of contemporary art, there are aspects that can easily be recognized, that appear familiar and „already seen“ yet the spectator’s eyes experience something completely new, try to put the picture together into something known, interpret what is seen in front of individual experiences and sociocultural background.“ Depending on the angle, new aspects and sections catch attention that have not been portrayed or discovered in classical pictures of or real-life-experiences with the monument.
“For my artwork and series #ThroughGermanEyes I want to make my pieces of digital photography unique in the way I choose, shoot and compose the pictures and in the way I produce the pieces of art.”
The pictures are unique, timeless and multifaceted also in the way they are produced to underline that art is more than mere perfection of photographic expertise and perspective, my individual eyes. The production reflects multiple points of view, multi-dimensional perspective and makes photographic pictures tangible and unique pieces of art. Bedoy combined different photographical layers and perspectives for uniqueness and transparency. By using handcrafted German plexiglass he implement the pictures inside multiple layers of the glass to give them a new multi-dimension through overlapping and translucent, brilliant quality.

The technique also makes the pictures copy proof and not reproducible. „A photography needs to be as unique as a painting and needs space to develop its attitude.“
